It's Good Enough - Post It
I have been so annoyingly precious about what I put in this journal section.
I write. That's what I have done since I was a wee one. It's what I have always felt I did well. Expressing insight in the form of stringing words together, be it poetry, fiction, journals.
But then, somewhere along the way, I've gotten so precious about what I put out there. It has to be well-thought out, perfect even. And I don't think I need to tell ya'll what tends to happen when you have to make something 'just so' before you send it out into the world.
It never gets put out into the world.
It remains a half-thought-out bud of a thought. No one gets to read something that may just resonate with them because I'm so fucking intent on 'perfection'.
Here's something I think I know but keep forgetting. That I need to be reminded of but the reminders tend to fall by the wayside: this stuff, creativity, comes through me (as it does for everyone). They are little pops of Life beautifully expressing itself through whoever you currently happen to be in this go-round and it's actually not for you to judge whether it's worthy of expressing. It is worthy of expressing. Someone right now needs to hear/see/read what you're quietly thinking. Raw. As it is.
So, I've decided to quit that need to tweak something a hundred times.
I've been in this weird funk where it feels like I'm this iced-over river with all these tumbling, churning, beautiful bits of creativity and thoughts underneath. Bumping into this strange place where I have a thousand, half-formed thoughts that remain unexpressed. Things that, even if just one of them was allowed to find the open air, could be a beautiful expressed thing.
What have I done instead? I scroll social media where others express what I feel. Only, SO much more succinctly, beautifully, poetically. I look at these posts and think "Well, they've said it so much better than I could've ever have so...."
Comparison is such a brutal, pointless game. Honestly, we all need to cut that shit out.
